In 2021-2022, 324,951 bachelor's degrees were awarded to general business/commerce students who went to a New York college or university. This makes it the #25 most popular major in the state. This means that of the 5,415,716 bachelor's that were awarded in the country, 6.0% were from a college or university in the state.
For this year's Best Value Bachelor's Degree Colleges for General Business/Commerce in New York ranking, we looked at 15 colleges that offer a bachelor's in general business. To us, 'best value' doesn't just mean the school with the lowest overall costs. We are more focused on general business schools that offer a high quality education at a price lower that other schools of similar academic excellence.
To determine the average cost, we look at total expenses - such as tuition, fees, room and board, books, and other related expenses - and then subtract the average financial award a student receives. Knowing this amount can help you determine how much you may have to borrow in loans or take out of savings. Depending on your income and other factors, the cost for you to attend a particular school may be more or less.

SUNY Empire State College earned the #1 spot in our 2024 rankings. SUNY Empire is a moderately-sized public school located in the suburb of Saratoga Springs. As a testament to the quality of education offered at SUNY Empire, the school also landed the #4 rank in our Best General Business/Commerce Schools in New York ranking.

The Graduate Center, CUNY comes in at #2 in this year's ranking. Located in the city of New York, The Graduate Center is a public school with a medium-sized student population. The Graduate Center also made our Best General Business/Commerce Schools in New York list, coming in at #2.
College of Staten Island CUNY earned the #3 spot in our 2024 rankings. CSI is a large public school located in the city of Staten Island. In addition to being on our best value list, CSI has also earned the #8 rank in our Best General Business/Commerce Schools in New York ranking.
The average amount of time it takes for a student to receive their degree at CSI is 4.7 years, and the yearly average cost to attend the school is $31,600. Looking at these numbers together, we estimate that the average cost of a bachelor’s degree from CSI is about $149,784. Graduating sooner can prevent you from having to pay more money out of pocket.

SUNY New Paltz comes in at #4 in this year's ranking. SUNY New Paltz is a medium-sized public school located in the suburb of New Paltz.
It takes about 4.2 years for the average student at SUNY New Paltz to complete their degree, and it costs about $24,895 per year to attend the school. When we combine these numbers, we estimate that the cost to get a bachelor’s degree from SUNY New Paltz is $104,808.
