University of Maryland Global Campus has taken the #1 spot in this year's legal professions ranking for non-traditional students. Located in the suburb of Adelphi, UMGC is a public school with a fairly large student population. UMGC did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #5 on our Best Colleges for Legal Professions in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
The student loan default rate at UMGC is lower than is typical, just 1.2% of students default in three years. 47,272 of UMGC students are exclusively distance learners. 45,251 of UMGC students are attending part time.

American University landed the #2 spot in our 2021 best legal professions schools for non-traditional students. The American University is a large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Washington. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, The American University has also earned the #1 rank in our Best Colleges for Legal Professions in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking.
The student loan default rate at The American University is lower than is typical, just 0.9% of students default in three years. There are approximately 5,283 students at The American University that take at least one class online. 3,612 of The American University students are attending part time.

Our rankings recognize John Jay College of Criminal Justice as the #3 school in this year's rankings. Located in the city of New York, John Jay is a public school with a large student population. John Jay not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #4 on our Best Colleges for Legal Professions in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
