In 2019-2020, 55,749 people earned their degree in general business/commerce, making the major the 13th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, general business/commerce graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $40,821 and had an average of $25,596 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 8,782 general business/commerce graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value General Business Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking looked at 105 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general business/commerce. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general business/commerce programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Chicago. It ranked #3 on our 2022 Best Value General Business Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $30-$48k list. Located in Chicago, Illinois, this fairly large private not-for-profit school handed out 11 degrees to qualified masters’s general business students in 2019-2020.
UChicago did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #4 on our “Best General Business/Commerce Master’s Degree Schools” list. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at University of Chicago are $61,548.

Harvard University is a large school located in Cambridge, Massachusetts that handed out 12 masters’s general business degrees in 2019-2020.
