In 2019-2020, 53,722 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 19th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $66,561 and had an average of $23,565 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 2,726 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,284 and $30,728 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 89 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $75,140 and $97,138 respectively.

The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great computer science programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

University of Wyoming is a fairly large public school situated in Laramie, Wyoming. It awarded 2 doctorate’s compsci degrees in 2019-2020.

Colorado School of Mines is a medium-sized public school situated in Golden, Colorado. It awarded 2 doctorate’s compsci degrees in 2019-2020.
