Information Science is the 56th most popular major in the country with 18,368 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $58,848 and had an average of $32,600 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 6,609 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value IS Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking looked at 109 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in information science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information science programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Located in Baltimore, Maryland, this large private not-for-profit school handed out 75 diplomas to qualified masters’s IS students in 2019-2020.
