Information Science is the 56th most popular major in the country with 18,368 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $58,848 and had an average of $32,600 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,974 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,725 and $33,240 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 1,257 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,078 and $37,227 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value IS Schools for a Master’s in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking analyzed 18 colleges that offered a degree in information science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information science programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Texas A & M University - Central Texas is a public institution located in Killeen, Texas. The school has a small population, and it awarded 16 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Southern Methodist University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Dallas, Texas. It awarded 120 masters’s IS degrees in 2019-2020.
