Information Technology is the 46th most popular major in the country with 38,958 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $39,044 and had an average of $25,781 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 10,693 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking looked at 138 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in information technology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent information technology programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Out of the 138 schools in the Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $30-$48k that were part of this year’s ranking, Johns Hopkins University landed the #3 spot on the list. Baltimore, Maryland is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s IT degrees to 72 students in 2019-2020.
Johns Hopkins did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Information Technology Master’s Degree Schools” list. Average graduate tuition and fees at Johns Hopkins are $59,425, but some majors have different tuition rates.
