In 2019-2020, 38,958 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 46th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $39,044 and had an average of $25,781 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 3,678 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,176 and $22,188 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 446 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,078 and $37,227 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Southwest Region For Those Making $75-$110k” ranking analyzed 13 colleges that offered a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality information technology programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Houston. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s in the Southwest Region For Those Making $75-$110k list. UH is a large school located in Houston, Texas that handed out 24 masters’s IT degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Dallas. It awarded 62 masters’s IT degrees in 2019-2020.
