Information Technology is the 46th most popular major in the country with 38,958 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $39,044 and had an average of $25,781 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 10,693 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s For Those Getting Aid” ranking, we looked at 143 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information technology programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the information technology program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 143 schools in the Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s For Those Getting Aid that were part of this year’s ranking, The University of Texas at Austin landed the #3 spot on the list. UT Austin is a public institution located in Austin, Texas. The school has a large population, and it awarded 15 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Indiana University - Bloomington landed the #8 spot on the 2022 Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s For Those Getting Aid ranking. Bloomington, Indiana is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s IT degrees to 18 students in 2019-2020.

Columbia University in the City of New York ranked #9 on this year’s Best Value IT Schools for a Master’s For Those Getting Aid list. Columbia University in the City of New York is located in New York, New York and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 116 masters’s IT degrees to qualified students.
