2022 Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region
It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. One of our goals at College Factual is to give you as much information as we can - such as our “Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region” ranking - to help you make that decision.
In 2019-2020, 310,601 education students received their degree, making the major the 4th most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $43,887 and had an average of $30,244 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 43,513 education graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,643 and $27,857 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 19,113 education graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,039 and $42,488 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region” ranking, we looked at 136 colleges that offer a degree in education. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great education programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the education program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 136 schools in the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, VanderCook College of Music landed the #2 spot on the list. VanderCook College of Music is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Chicago, Illinois. It awarded 32 masters’s education degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Viterbo University. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region. Viterbo is a small private not-for-profit school situated in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It awarded 132 masters’s education degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Alverno College. The school came in at #4 for the Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region. Milwaukee, Wisconsin is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s education degrees to 88 students in 2019-2020.

With a ranking of #6, Indiana Wesleyan University did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region list. Marian University landed the #8 spot on the 2022 Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region ranking. Marian University is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. It awarded 87 masters’s education degrees in 2019-2020.

With a ranking of #12, Xavier University did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Education Schools for a Master’s in the Great Lakes Region list. Cincinnati, Ohio is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s education degrees to 157 students in 2019-2020.
