In 2017-2018, engineering technologies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $46,894 and had an average of $21,178 in loans still to pay off.
At the associate degree level specifically, there were 24,319 engineering technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,082 and $17,678 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Engineering Tech Schools for an Associate For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking looked at 323 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in engineering technologies. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality engineering technologies programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Purdue University - Main Campus did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Engineering Tech Schools for an Associate For Those Making $0-$30k ranking, coming in at #19. Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, this large public school awarded 7 degrees to qualified associates’s engineering tech students in 2019-2020.
Purdue did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #13 on our “Best Engineering Technologies Associate Degree Schools” list. The yearly cost to attend Purdue University - Main Campus is $5,483 for Associate Degree Engineering Tech students whose families make $0-$30k.
With a freshman retention rate of 93%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students. The low student loan default rate of 2.2% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
Onondaga Community College came in at #20 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Engineering Tech Schools for an Associate For Those Making $0-$30k ranking.
