General Engineering is the 78th most popular major in the country with 11,925 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, general engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $66,152 and had an average of $20,077 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 2,718 general engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $63,108 and $18,564 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 217 general engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $71,978 and $116,300 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Engineering Schools for a Doctorate in the Southeast Region For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking analyzed 12 colleges that offered a degree in general engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Located in Tampa, Florida, this large public school handed out 1 diplomas to qualified doctorate’s engineering students in 2019-2020.
