With 200,458 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, engineering is the 6th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $64,888 and had an average of $23,564 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 13,723 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,635 and $25,116 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 787 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $73,889 and $109,372 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Engineering Schools for a Doctorate in the New England Region” ranking analyzed 14 colleges that offered a degree in engineering. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent engineering programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
