With 200,458 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, engineering is the 6th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $64,888 and had an average of $23,564 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 40,264 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $61,596 and $23,814 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 7,765 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,950 and $43,286 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region” ranking analyzed 59 colleges that offered a degree in engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the engineering program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Out of the 59 schools in the Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Daytona Beach, Florida, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 113 diplomas to qualified masters’s engineering students in 2019-2020.
Embry-Riddle Worldwide did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #24 on our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” list. Out of the 59 schools in the Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Clemson University landed the #2 spot on the list. Clemson, South Carolina is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s engineering degrees to 370 students in 2019-2020.

Located in Ruston, Louisiana, this fairly large public school awarded 32 degrees to qualified masters’s engineering students in 2019-2020.

University of Florida ranked #7 on this year’s Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region list. Located in Gainesville, Florida, this large public school handed out 548 degrees to qualified masters’s engineering students in 2019-2020.
UF also took the #5 spot in our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at UF are $30,130, but some majors have different tuition rates.
Virginia Tech did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region ranking, coming in at #8. Blacksburg, Virginia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s engineering degrees to 394 students in 2019-2020.
Virginia Tech also took the #7 spot in our “Best Engineering Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at Virginia Tech are $30,547, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Daytona Beach came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region ranking. Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach is a private not-for-profit institution located in Daytona Beach, Florida. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 100 masters’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region ranking, coming in at #10. Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus is a large school located in Atlanta, Georgia that handed out 1,123 masters’s engineering degrees in 2019-2020.

Mississippi State University came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region ranking. This large school is located in Mississippi State, Mississippi, and it awarded 110 masters’s engineering degrees in 2019-2020.

Tampa, Florida is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s engineering degrees to 278 students in 2019-2020.

University of Arkansas came in at #17 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region ranking. UARK is a large public school situated in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It awarded 117 masters’s engineering degrees in 2019-2020.

With a ranking of #18, North Carolina A & T State University did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Engineering Schools for a Master’s in the Southeast Region list. NC A&T is located in Greensboro, North Carolina and, has a fairly large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 54 masters’s engineering degrees to qualified students.
