2022 Best Value Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for English Language & Literature in the New England Region

In 2019-2020, 56,860 people earned their degree in English language and literature, making the major the 16th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, English language and literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $27,873 and had an average of $24,681 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 5,348 English language and literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $30,157 and $26,345 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 3,917 English language and literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,041 and $24,492 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value English Language & Literature Schools for a Bachelor’s in the New England Region” ranking, we looked at 70 colleges that offer a degree in English language and literature. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent English language and literature programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the English language and literature program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.
