In 2019-2020, 4,889 people earned their degree in food, nutrition and related services, making the major the 131st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, food, nutrition and related services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $33,096 and had an average of $25,351 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,083 food, nutrition and related services graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,669 and $21,622 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent food, nutrition and related services programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Central New Mexico Community College is a large public school situated in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It awarded 30 ’s nutrition degrees in 2019-2020.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend The University of Texas at Austin. The school came in at #2 for the Best Value Nutrition Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Making $75-$110k. Austin, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s nutrition degrees to 145 students in 2019-2020.
UT Austin not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #1 on our “Best Food, Nutrition & Related Services Schools in the Southwest Region” list. The yearly cost to attend The University of Texas at Austin is $20,454 for Southwest Region Nutrition students whose families make $75-$110k.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 97%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year. The low student loan default rate of 2.7% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
