With 313,362 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, nursing is the 3rd most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $67,065 and had an average of $26,282 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 39,179 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $66,645 and $23,719 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 5,999 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,078 and $37,227 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Master’s in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking analyzed 44 colleges that offered a degree in nursing. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality nursing programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
