With 313,362 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, nursing is the 3rd most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, nursing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $67,065 and had an average of $26,282 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 39,179 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $66,645 and $23,719 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 5,999 nursing graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,078 and $37,227 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Nursing Schools for a Master’s in the Southwest Region For Those Getting Aid” ranking looked at 44 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in nursing. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent nursing programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend The University of Texas at El Paso. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value Nursing Schools for a Master’s in the Southwest Region For Those Getting Aid. El Paso, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s nursing degrees to 171 students in 2019-2020.
