In 2019-2020, 38,020 people earned their degree in public health, making the major the 27th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, public health graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $41,740 and had an average of $35,895 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 8,859 public health graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,888 and $33,500 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 229 public health graduates with average earnings and debt of $31,631 and $18,547 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Public Health Schools for an Associate in the Southeast Region For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking, we looked at 11 colleges that offer a degree in public health. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality public health programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Charles Town, West Virginia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associates’s public health degrees to 50 students in 2019-2020.

Roane State Community College is a public institution located in Harriman, Tennessee. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 12 associates’s degrees in 2019-2020.
