In 2019-2020, 34,750 people earned their degree in law, making the major the 25th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, law graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $58,876 and had an average of $112,084 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 7,901 law graduates with average earnings and debt of $51,535 and $114,227 respectively. At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 7,901 law graduates with average earnings and debt of $71,978 and $116,300 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Law Schools for a Doctorate in the Southeast Region For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking, we looked at 39 colleges that offer a degree in law. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great law programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Nashville, Tennessee is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out doctorate’s law degrees to 182 students in 2019-2020.

Located in Gainesville, Florida, this large public school awarded 306 degrees to qualified doctorate’s law students in 2019-2020.
