You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Texas Woman’s University. The school came in at #1 for the Best Value Library Science Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k. Denton, Texas is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s library science degrees to 258 students in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at TWU, the school also landed the #2 spot in our “Best Library & Information Science Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Texas Woman’s University is $6,706 for Southwest Region Library Science students whose families make $0-$30k.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of North Texas. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value Library Science Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k list. Located in Denton, Texas, this large public school handed out 325 degrees to qualified ’s library science students in 2019-2020.
UNT also took the #3 spot in our “Best Library & Information Science Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. The yearly cost to attend University of North Texas is $8,521 for southwest region library science students whose families make $0-$30k.
Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 85%.

SHSU is a large public school situated in Huntsville, Texas. It awarded 58 ’s library science degrees in 2019-2020.
SHSU not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #1 on our “Best Library & Information Science Schools in the Southwest Region” list. The yearly cost to attend SHSU is $10,561 for southwest region library science students whose families make $0-$30k.

The school came in at #4 for the Best Value Library Science Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k. Texas A&M University - Commerce is a public institution located in Commerce, Texas. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 51 ’s degrees in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Texas A&M Commerce, the school also landed the #5 spot in our “Best Library & Information Science Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. NSU is a medium-sized public school situated in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. It awarded 15 ’s library science degrees in 2019-2020.
NSU also took the #6 spot in our “Best Library & Information Science Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Northeastern State University is $7,614 for Southwest Region Library Science students whose families make $0-$30k.
University of Oklahoma Norman Campus landed the #6 spot on the 2022 Best Value Library Science Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k ranking. Located in Norman, Oklahoma, this large public school awarded 88 degrees to qualified ’s library science students in 2019-2020.
University of Oklahoma also made our “Best Library & Information Science Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #4. The estimated yearly cost for University of Oklahoma is $16,675 for southwest region library science students whose families make $0-$30k.
The low student loan default rate of 4.7% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 87%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.
