In 2019-2020, 5,403 people earned their degree in library and information science, making the major the 124th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, library and information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $41,496 and had an average of $36,654 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 29 library and information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Library Science Schools for a Doctorate For Those Making $30-$48k” ranking analyzed 7 colleges that offered a degree in library and information science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great library and information science programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
