In 2019-2020, 5,403 people earned their degree in library and information science, making the major the 124th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, library and information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $41,496 and had an average of $36,654 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 83 library and information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $50,300 and $37,218 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 71 library and information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,560 and $37,817 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Library Science Schools for a Master’s in the Rocky Mountains Region For Those Making $75-$110k” ranking analyzed 2 colleges that offered a degree in library and information science. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent library and information science programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus. It ranked #1 on our 2022 Best Value Library Science Schools for a Master’s in the Rocky Mountains Region For Those Making $75-$110k list. Located in Denver, Colorado, this large public school awarded 45 degrees to qualified masters’s library science students in 2019-2020.
CU Anschutz did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Library & Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” list. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at CU Anschutz are $23,915.

The school came in at #2 for the Best Value Library Science Schools for a Master’s in the Rocky Mountains Region For Those Making $75-$110k. Located in Denver, Colorado, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 26 diplomas to qualified masters’s library science students in 2019-2020.
DU also took the #2 spot in our “Best Library & Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at DU are $52,899, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
