Religious Studies is the 115th most popular major in the country with 9,704 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, religious studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $32,163 and had an average of $28,712 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 423 religious studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,900 and $24,858 respectively.

This ranking identifies schools with high-quality religious studies programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Baylor University came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Religion Schools in the Southwest Region For Those Making $0-$30k ranking. This fairly large school is located in Waco, Texas, and it awarded 42 ’s religion degrees in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Baylor, the school also landed the #2 spot in our “Best Religious Studies Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking. It costs about $26,726 for Southwest Region Religion students whose families make $0-$30k per year to attend Baylor University.
