In 2019-2020, 183,889 psychology students received their degree, making the major the 7th most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, psychology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $33,496 and had an average of $36,227 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 29,414 psychology graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,741 and $34,665 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 4,315 psychology graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,887 and $46,998 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Psychology Schools for a Master’s in the Middle Atlantic Region” ranking looked at 101 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in psychology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent psychology programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the psychology program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.
