In 2019-2020, 183,889 psychology students received their degree, making the major the 7th most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, psychology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $33,496 and had an average of $36,227 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 12,753 psychology graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,858 and $30,656 respectively. At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 2,233 psychology graduates with average earnings and debt of $58,606 and $42,101 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Psychology Schools for a Master’s in the New England Region” ranking looked at 51 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in psychology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality psychology programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
