In 2019-2020, 10,756 people earned their degree in computer programming, making the major the 121st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, computer programming graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $45,886 and had an average of $26,222 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,403 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $48,867 and $29,290 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 390 computer programming graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,605 and $16,886 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Programming Schools for an Associate in the Southwest Region For Those Making $48-$75k” ranking looked at 13 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in computer programming. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer programming programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
