2022 Best Value Doctor’s Degree Colleges for Engineering

With 200,458 degrees handed out in 2019-2020, engineering is the 6th most popular major in the United States. In 2017-2018, engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $64,888 and had an average of $23,564 in loans still to pay off.
At the doctor’s degree level specifically, there were 11,199 engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $72,680 and $116,043 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Engineering Schools for a Doctorate” ranking looked at 185 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the engineering program at the school and the cost to attend the school once aid has been awarded. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend The University of Texas at Austin. It ranked #3 on our 2022 Best Value Engineering Schools for a Doctorate list. The University of Texas at Austin is a public institution located in Austin, Texas. The school has a large population, and it awarded 220 doctorate’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Out of the 185 schools in the Best Value Engineering Schools for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, University of California - San Francisco landed the #4 spot on the list. University of California - San Francisco is a public institution located in San Francisco, California. The school has a small population, and it awarded 13 doctorate’s degrees in 2019-2020.
