American Sign Language is the 197th most popular major in the country with 2,737 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,270 and had an average of $21,733 in loans still to pay off.
At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 528 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value ASL Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $48-$75k” ranking, we looked at 30 colleges that offer a degree in American Sign Language. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great American Sign Language programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend St Catherine University. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value ASL Schools for a Bachelor’s For Those Making $48-$75k list. Located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 14 degrees to qualified bachelors’s ASL students in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at St. Kate’s, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Bachelor’s Degree Schools” ranking. It costs about $17,062 for bachelor’s degree asl students whose families make $48-$75k per year to attend St Catherine University.
