In 2019-2020, 2,737 people earned their degree in American Sign Language, making the major the 197th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,270 and had an average of $21,733 in loans still to pay off.
At the associate degree level specifically, there were 1,023 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,082 and $17,678 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value ASL Schools for an Associate For Those Getting Aid” ranking analyzed 12 colleges that offered a degree in American Sign Language. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent American Sign Language programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

LCC is located in Lansing, Michigan and, has a fairly large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 26 associates’s ASL degrees to qualified students.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at LCC, the school also landed the #1 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Lansing Community College is $4,828 for Associate Degree ASL students with aid.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Tarrant County College District. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value ASL Schools for an Associate For Those Getting Aid list. Fort Worth, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s ASL degrees to 22 students in 2019-2020.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s ASL degrees to 13 students in 2019-2020.
OSU-OKC not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #3 on our “Best American Sign Language Associate Degree Schools” list. It costs about $6,753 for Associate Degree ASL students with aid per year to attend Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City.
