Our 2021 rankings named University of Hawaii - West Oahu the best school in Hawaii for veterans working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in Kapolei, Hawaii, the small public school handed out 709 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Our most recent data shows that 435 of the 3,168 students enrolled at UH West Oahu were GI Bill® students, of which 291 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,528. On top of their other funding sources, 4 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. UH West Oahu does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
A rank of #2 on our Best Colleges for Veterans in Hawaii list means University of Hawaii at Manoa is a great place for students working on their bachelor’s degree. UH Manoa is a fairly large public school situated in Honolulu, Hawaii. It awarded 4,465 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Among the 18,025 students enrolled at UH Manoa, 1,184 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 932 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Hawaii Pacific University is a private not-for-profit institution located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The school has a small population, and it awarded 849 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Of the 4,243 students enrolled at Hawaii Pacific University, 1,086 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 931 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $15,181. In addition to receiving other benefits, 260 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. According to our most recent data, UH Hilo supports 3,165 students, and 146 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 85 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,678. To help with additional expenses, 4 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. UH Hilo does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
The excellent bachelor’s degree programs at Chaminade University of Honolulu helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the best schools for veterans in Hawaii. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Honolulu, Hawaii, and it awarded 563 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Our most recent data shows that 347 of the 2,208 students enrolled at Chaminade University of Honolulu were GI Bill® students, of which 269 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $11,087. During this same period, 10 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Chaminade University of Honolulu does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

According to our most recent data, Leeward CC supports 6,363 students, and 819 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 684 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $2,297. In addition to receiving other benefits, 24 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
