Our analysis found Wilmington University to be the best school for veterans in Delaware in this year’s ranking. New Castle, Delaware is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 3,558 students in 2019-2020.
Among the 14,769 students enrolled at Wilmington University, 866 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 709 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,462.
Wilmington University also took the #3 spot in our Best Schools in Delaware rankings.
Out of the 6 schools in Delaware that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Delaware landed the #2 spot on the list. UD is a large public school situated in Newark, Delaware. It awarded 6,300 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Among the 23,613 students enrolled at UD, 333 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 251 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $10,666.
The student loan default rate at the school is 2.4%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%. In addition to its best for vets ranking, and one of the reasons why the school is on the list, UD is ranked #1 for overall quality in Delaware.
Out of the 6 schools in Delaware that were part of this year’s ranking, Delaware State University landed the #3 spot on the list. Located in Dover, Delaware, the small public school handed out 762 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Our most recent data shows that 169 of the 4,739 students enrolled at Del State were GI Bill® students, of which 91 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,982. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
