Our analysis found Champlain College to be the best school for veterans in Vermont in this year’s ranking. Located in Burlington, Vermont, the small private not-for-profit school awarded 1,271 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2019-2020.

Of the 4,137 students enrolled at Champlain, 320 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 239 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,492. To help with additional expenses, 33 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

The low student loan default rate of 4.2% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.

Burlington, Vermont

A rank of #2 on our Best Colleges for Veterans in Vermont list means University of Vermont is a great place for students working on their bachelor’s degree. UVM is a public institution located in Burlington, Vermont. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 3,153 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.

Our most recent data shows that 220 of the 13,292 students enrolled at UVM were GI Bill® students, of which 182 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $13,965. To help with additional expenses, 40 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. UVM does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

The low student loan default rate of 2.4% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. UVM also took the #3 spot in our Best Schools in Vermont rankings.

Northfield, Vermont

A rank of #3 on our Best Colleges for Veterans in Vermont list means Norwich University is a great place for students working on their bachelor’s degree. Norwich University is a small private not-for-profit school located in Northfield, Vermont that handed out 1,230 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.

According to our most recent data, Norwich supports 3,975 students, and 808 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 655 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Saint Michael’s is located in Colchester, Vermont and, has a small student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 578 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.
