Our 2021 rankings named University of Southern Mississippi the best school in Mississippi for veterans working on their bachelor’s degree. Southern Miss is a fairly large public school situated in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. It awarded 3,305 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Of the 14,606 students enrolled at Southern Miss, 822 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 526 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,124. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Mississippi State University. The school came in at #2 in Mississippi on this year’s best for vets ranking. This large public school is located in Mississippi State, Mississippi, and it awarded 5,216 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Our most recent data shows that 1,051 of the 22,986 students enrolled at Mississippi State were GI Bill® students, of which 694 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $5,832. Mississippi State does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Mississippi. It ranked #3 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Veterans in Mississippi list. Ole Miss is a large public school situated in University, Mississippi. It awarded 6,196 bachelor’s degrees in 2019-2020.
Of the 21,014 students enrolled at Ole Miss, 597 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 389 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,812. In addition to receiving other benefits, 91 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Ole Miss does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Mississippi Valley State University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Colleges for Veterans in Mississippi ranking. Located in Itta Bena, Mississippi, the small public school awarded 327 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2019-2020.
Our most recent data shows that 77 of the 2,032 students enrolled at Mississippi Valley State University were GI Bill® students, of which 22 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $3,163. Mississippi Valley State University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
Delta State University ranked #9 on this year’s Best Colleges for Veterans in Mississippi list. Located in Cleveland, Mississippi, the small public school awarded 937 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2019-2020.
