In 2019-2020, 30,670 people earned their degree in electrical engineering, making the major the 31st most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $70,098 and had an average of $23,581 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 9,791 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k” ranking, we looked at 214 colleges that offer a degree in electrical engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality electrical engineering programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Stanford, California is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s EE degrees to 142 students in 2019-2020.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend California Institute of Technology. It ranked #3 on our 2022 Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k list. Located in Pasadena, California, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 20 diplomas to qualified masters’s EE students in 2019-2020.
Caltech also made our “Best Electrical Engineering Master’s Degree Schools” list, coming in at #15. Average graduate tuition and fees at California Institute of Technology are $56,649, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
Out of the 214 schools in the Best Value EE Schools for a Master’s For Those Making $0-$30k that were part of this year’s ranking, Princeton University landed the #4 spot on the list.
