Agriculture is the 202nd most popular major in the country with 3,370 degrees awarded in 2020-2021.
For this year’s “Most Well Attended Agriculture Major” ranking, we looked at 182 colleges that offer a degree in agriculture. This ranking identifies schools that graduate the most students in agriculture.

The colleges and universities below are the best for agriculture students.
Out of the 182 schools in the Most Well Attended Agriculture Major that were part of this year’s ranking, Blinn College landed the #1 spot on the list. Brenham, Texas is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s agriculture degrees to 190 students in 2020-2021.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Illinois State University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Well Attended Agriculture Major list. Illinois State is a large school located in Normal, Illinois that handed out 178 ’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 3.6% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend The University of Tennessee - Martin. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Well Attended Agriculture Major list. The University of Tennessee - Martin is located in Martin, Tennessee and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 118 ’s agriculture degrees to qualified students.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Tarleton State University. The school came in at #4 for the Most Well Attended Agriculture Major. Tarleton is located in Stephenville, Texas and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 106 ’s agriculture degrees to qualified students.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Oregon State University. The school came in at #5 for the Most Well Attended Agriculture Major. Oregon State is located in Corvallis, Oregon and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 88 ’s agriculture degrees to qualified students.
With a freshman retention rate of 85%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The low undergrad student loan default rate of 2.8% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
Ivy Tech Community College ranked #6 on this year’s Most Well Attended Agriculture Major list. Ivy Tech Community College is a large school located in Indianapolis, Indiana that handed out 80 ’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.
Cornell University came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Most Well Attended Agriculture Major ranking. Cornell University is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Ithaca, New York. It awarded 76 ’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 0.9% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. Since the school has a undergrad student-to-faculty ratio of 9 to 1, those pursuing a degree will have more opportunities to interact with their professors. The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 96%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.
With a ranking of #8, Western Illinois University did quite well on the 2023 Most Well Attended Agriculture Major list. This medium-sized school is located in Macomb, Illinois, and it awarded 75 ’s agriculture degrees in 2020-2021.
