It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. General Architecture is the 127th most popular major in the country with 4,982 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, general architecture graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $49,005 and had an average of $26,624 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 684 general architecture graduates with average earnings and debt of $51,230 and $28,299 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Architecture” ranking looked at 11 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general architecture. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general architecture programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the general architecture program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Top 11 Best General Architecture Colleges for Veterans in the Middle Atlantic Region
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Catholic University of America. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Architecture. CUA is located in Washington, District of Columbia and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 92 ’s architecture degrees to qualified students.
CUA did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 5,366 students enrolled at Catholic University of America, 196 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 123 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,878. On top of their other funding sources, 53 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 86%.

Out of the 11 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Architecture that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Maryland - College Park landed the #2 spot on the list. Located in College Park, Maryland, this large public school handed out 111 degrees to qualified ’s architecture students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UMCP, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 16 of the 40,709 students enrolled at UMCP were GI Bill® students, of which 13 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $1,716. In addition to receiving other benefits, 8 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Carnegie Mellon is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It awarded 12 ’s architecture degrees in 2020-2021.
Carnegie Mellon also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 13,519 students enrolled at Carnegie Mellon, 117 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 72 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $18,422. During this same period, 36 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

This large school is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and it awarded 17 ’s architecture degrees in 2020-2021.

Marywood University landed the #6 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Architecture ranking. Marywood is a private not-for-profit institution located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The school has a small population, and it awarded 30 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Marywood not only placed well in this ranking. With a ranking of #7, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Architecture list. This medium-sized school is located in Troy, New York, and it awarded 60 ’s architecture degrees in 2020-2021.
RPI not only placed well in this ranking. Columbia University in the City of New York ranked #8 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Architecture list. Columbia is a private not-for-profit institution located in New York, New York. The school has a large population, and it awarded 18 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our middle atlantic region vets studying architecture list, Columbia has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 739 of the 30,135 students enrolled at Columbia were GI Bill® students, of which 467 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $22,069. During this same period, 328 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.

University at Buffalo is located in Buffalo, New York and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 77 ’s architecture degrees to qualified students.
