Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Architecture” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
General Architecture is the 127th most popular major in the country with 4,982 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, general architecture graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $49,005 and had an average of $26,624 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 305 general architecture graduates with average earnings and debt of $52,454 and $31,625 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Architecture” ranking analyzed 9 colleges that offered a degree in general architecture. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general architecture programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the general architecture program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Top 9 Best General Architecture Colleges for Veterans in the New England Region
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Architecture list. Cambridge, Massachusetts is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s architecture degrees to 28 students in 2020-2021.
MIT also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 129 of the 11,254 students enrolled at MIT were GI Bill® students, of which 38 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $17,024. During this same period, 32 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. MIT does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 98%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The impressive undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 3 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Yale University. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Architecture. Located in New Haven, Connecticut, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 25 degrees to qualified ’s architecture students in 2020-2021.
Yale did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.According to our most recent data, Yale supports 12,060 students, and 1 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 1 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,238. During this same period, 0 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

University of Hartford came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Architecture ranking. UHart is a medium-sized school located in West Hartford, Connecticut that handed out 20 ’s architecture degrees in 2020-2021.
UHart did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 6,493 students enrolled at UHart, 96 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 54 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $12,928. To help with additional expenses, 18 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.
The undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 8 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one.

Keene State College ranked #7 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Architecture list. Keene State is located in Keene, New Hampshire and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 19 ’s architecture degrees to qualified students.
