It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Architecture & Related Services for a Bachelor’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 17,325 people earned their degree in architecture and related services, making the major the 29th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, architecture and related services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $49,602 and had an average of $25,146 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 2,071 architecture and related services graduates with average earnings and debt of $46,572 and $25,410 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,253 architecture and related services graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,343 and $26,790 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Architecture & Related Services for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 15 colleges that offer a degree in architecture and related services. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great architecture and related services programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the architecture and related services program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Architecture & Related Services for a Bachelor’s list. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this large public school awarded 58 degrees to qualified bachelors’s architecture and related services students in 2020-2021.
U-M did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Architecture & Related Services Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list.Of the 47,907 students enrolled at University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, 570 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Located in Muncie, Indiana, this large public school awarded 100 degrees to qualified bachelors’s architecture and related services students in 2020-2021.
