In 2020-2021, 3,911 people earned their degree in biotechnology, making the major the 174th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, biotechnology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,907 and had an average of $20,555 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 1,372 biotechnology graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,634 and $19,748 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 154 biotechnology graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Biotech for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 10 colleges that offered a degree in biotechnology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great biotechnology programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
