In 2020-2021, 3,911 people earned their degree in biotechnology, making the major the 174th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, biotechnology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,907 and had an average of $20,555 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 1,372 biotechnology graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,634 and $19,748 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Biotech” ranking, we looked at 15 colleges that offer a degree in biotechnology. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent biotechnology programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

JMU is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 34 ’s biotech degrees to qualified students.

JMU not only placed well in this ranking.
