With 99,265 degrees handed out in 2020-2021, accounting is the 8th most popular major in the United States. In 2019-2020, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $47,712 and had an average of $26,539 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 24,444 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,005 and $27,829 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 2,094 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,328 and $20,384 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Accounting for an Associate” ranking analyzed 96 colleges that offered a degree in accounting. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great accounting programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
