Accounting is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 8th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 99,265 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $47,712 and had an average of $26,539 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Rocky Mountains region, there were 5,593 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,425 and $32,632 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 3,223 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,089 and $26,296 respectively.

The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great accounting programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Fort Lewis College did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Rocky Mountains Region for Accounting for a Bachelor’s ranking, coming in at #25. Durango, Colorado is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelors’s accounting degrees to 18 students in 2020-2021.
FLC also took the #24 spot in our “Best Accounting Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region” ranking.Of the 3,469 students enrolled at FLC, 101 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 53 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $4,268. During this same period, 6 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
