Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Accounting” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
Accounting is one of the most popular majors in the nation, ranking 8th of all the majors we analyze. In 2020-2021, 99,265 degrees were awarded to students with this major. In 2019-2020, accounting graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $47,712 and had an average of $26,539 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 24,444 accounting graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,005 and $27,829 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Accounting” ranking, we looked at 308 colleges that offer a degree in accounting. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great accounting programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the accounting program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Top 25 Best Accounting Colleges for Veterans in the Southeast Region
Out of the 308 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Accounting that were part of this year’s ranking, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and it awarded 196 ’s accounting degrees in 2020-2021.
