When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for MIS for a Master’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 13,680 people earned their degree in management information systems, making the major the 73rd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, management information systems graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $57,647 and had an average of $24,340 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 1,926 management information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $60,061 and $24,737 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for MIS for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 14 colleges that offer a degree in management information systems. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality management information systems programs as well as strong veteran support.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the management information systems program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Case Western Reserve University is a fairly large school located in Cleveland, Ohio that handed out 16 masters’s MIS degrees in 2020-2021.
Case Western also took the #1 spot in our “Best Management Information Systems Master’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking.Of the 11,465 students enrolled at Case Western, 109 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Dominican U also took the #4 spot in our “Best Management Information Systems Master’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 37 of the 3,189 students enrolled at Dominican U were GI Bill® students, of which 17 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Illinois Institute of Technology is located in Chicago, Illinois and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 2 masters’s MIS degrees to qualified students.
