When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in Iowa for MIS” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 13,680 people earned their degree in management information systems, making the major the 73rd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, management information systems graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $57,647 and had an average of $24,340 in loans still to pay off.
Across Iowa, there were 83 management information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $55,615 and $25,875 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Iowa for MIS” ranking analyzed 6 colleges that offered a degree in management information systems. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent management information systems programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Most Veteran Friendly in Iowa for MIS

Out of the 6 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Iowa for MIS that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Northern Iowa landed the #1 spot on the list. UNI is a medium-sized public school situated in Cedar Falls, Iowa. It awarded 24 ’s MIS degrees in 2020-2021.
UNI not only placed well in this ranking. With a freshman retention rate of 86%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Loras College. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Iowa for MIS. Loras College is a small school located in Dubuque, Iowa that handed out 3 ’s MIS degrees in 2020-2021.
Loras also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 34 of the 1,404 students enrolled at Loras were GI Bill® students, of which 15 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,495. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Loras offers credit for military training for eligible students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Simpson College. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Iowa for MIS list. Located in Indianola, Iowa, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 18 diplomas to qualified ’s MIS students in 2020-2021.
Simpson College not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 35 of the 1,267 students enrolled at Simpson College were GI Bill® students, of which 18 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $10,481. During this same period, 7 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

Mount Mercy is a private not-for-profit institution located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The school has a small population, and it awarded 5 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our iowa vets studying mis list, Mount Mercy has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 1,705 students enrolled at Mount Mercy University, 58 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 33 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $7,227. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
