Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Real Estate for an Associate” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 6,547 people earned their degree in real estate, making the major the 155th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, real estate graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $60,568 and had an average of $21,484 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 934 real estate graduates with average earnings and debt of $54,664 and $19,534 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 93 real estate graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,810 and $18,681 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Real Estate for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 6 colleges that offer a degree in real estate. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent real estate programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Houston Community College. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Real Estate for an Associate list. Houston Community College is located in Houston, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 25 associates’s real estate degrees to qualified students.
Houston Community College did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Real Estate Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Among the 48,329 students enrolled at Houston Community College, 1,421 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 783 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $1,632. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend San Antonio College. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Real Estate for an Associate list. San Antonio, Texas is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s real estate degrees to 13 students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at San Antonio College, the school also landed the #5 spot in our “Best Real Estate Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.According to our most recent data, San Antonio College supports 19,231 students, and 2,054 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 1,362 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The school came in at #3 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Real Estate for an Associate. This large school is located in Fort Worth, Texas, and it awarded 17 associates’s real estate degrees in 2020-2021.
Tarrant County College also made our “Best Real Estate Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #2.Of the 43,000 students enrolled at Tarrant County College, 1,862 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
