Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Media Studies” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 10,266 people earned their degree in communication and media studies, making the major the 82nd most popular in the United States.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,046 communication and media studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Media Studies” ranking looked at 18 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in communication and media studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent communication and media studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the communication and media studies program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Texas Christian University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Media Studies list. TCU is located in Fort Worth, Texas and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 22 ’s media studies degrees to qualified students.

Out of the 18 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Media Studies that were part of this year’s ranking, Texas Tech University landed the #2 spot on the list. Lubbock, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s media studies degrees to 126 students in 2020-2021.

University of Mary Hardin - Baylor is a private not-for-profit institution located in Belton, Texas. The school has a small population, and it awarded 16 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
UMHB did well in our major quality rankings, too.
