In 2020-2021, 66,787 communication and media studies students received their degree, making the major the 10th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, communication and media studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $34,115 and had an average of $25,414 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Far Western US region, there were 15,404 communication and media studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,160 and $21,474 respectively. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great communication and media studies programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Western Oregon University landed the #25 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for Communications for a Bachelor’s ranking. Located in Monmouth, Oregon, this small public school awarded 23 degrees to qualified bachelors’s communications students in 2020-2021.
