In 2020-2021, 66,787 communication and media studies students received their degree, making the major the 10th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, communication and media studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $34,115 and had an average of $25,414 in loans still to pay off.
Across Oregon, there were 417 communication and media studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,696 and $24,131 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent communication and media studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Portland State University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Communications list. Located in Portland, Oregon, this large public school awarded 113 diplomas to qualified ’s communications students in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our oregon vets studying communications list, Portland State University has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 23,640 students enrolled at Portland State University, 1,127 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 739 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,835. On top of their other funding sources, 100 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Portland State University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Oregon. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Communications. Eugene, Oregon is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s communications degrees to 38 students in 2020-2021.
UO not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 582 of the 21,752 students enrolled at UO were GI Bill® students, of which 314 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Western Oregon University is a small school located in Monmouth, Oregon that handed out 23 ’s communications degrees in 2020-2021.

Oregon State also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Among the 32,312 students enrolled at Oregon State University, 1,559 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 1,000 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,385. In addition to receiving other benefits, 17 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

Linfield is a small private not-for-profit school situated in McMinnville, Oregon. It awarded 16 ’s communications degrees in 2020-2021.

Southern Oregon University came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Communications ranking. Southern Oregon University is a medium-sized public school situated in Ashland, Oregon. It awarded 43 ’s communications degrees in 2020-2021.
Southern Oregon University did well in our major quality rankings, too. University of Portland came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Communications ranking. This small school is located in Portland, Oregon, and it awarded 21 ’s communications degrees in 2020-2021.
University of Portland not only placed well in this ranking. Willamette University landed the #8 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Communications ranking. Willamette is a private not-for-profit institution located in Salem, Oregon. The school has a small population, and it awarded 19 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
